Seasonal Marquette County Transit Authority Senior and Handicapped Resident Christmas Light Tours Wrap Up Soon

Marquette, MI  –  December 20, 2018  –  Each year Marquette County Transit Authority spreads the holiday cheer to our local elderly and handicapped residents. As part of our special services, every Christmas season we work with Marquette County nursing and assisted living facilities so their residents can see the best lights in town!

Picking our routes from the Marquette Board of Light and Power Annual Lighting Contest, our drivers pick up occupant from all over Marquette County for Light Tours. Riders enjoy the beautiful Christmas lights the holiday season has to offer and some time with other facility community members. Many of the organizations’ activity coordinators work to make this an even more special night for their residents by adding a restaurant dinner or coffee shop stop to the itinerary.

To make our service as easy as possible for residents, activity coordinators do all of the set up for who attends. Interested elderly or handicapped residents should contact their facility’s event coordinator for more information about getting on a Light Tour with Marq-Tran!

This year, participating nursing and assisted living centers included: Teal Lake Assisted Community, Ishpeming Senior Center, St. Frances, Pioneer Bluff, Norlite Nursing Center, Grace Lutheran, Brookridge, PEP Group & Grace Episcopal Church, Eastwood Nursing Center, Lost Creek, and ALS Norwood.

We are just wrapping up the Light Tours for this Christmas season, but we’ll be back to do it all again next year!
